Toyota Land Cruiser and Honda Accord seem to be the most sought after four-wheelers for Maulana Masood Azhar, leader of the Pakistan-based banned terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Blatantly misusing funds collected in name of jehad in Kashmir, Maulana and his cohorts purchased a big fleet of luxury cars for travelling across Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Tracking two separate bank accounts of ANZ Grindlays Banks - A/C No 11501-001 and A/C No 11501-16750-25 of Sadar branch in Rawalpindi, Indian Intelligence agencies have discovered that in just a few months Masood Azhar collected Rs 17 crore from his supporters in UK and West Asia.
A few NRIs based in UAE and Saudi Arab also contributed cheques in the outfit's account in Pakistan. The secret RAW report reveals that JeM, founded by Maulana Azhar, listed its address for correspondence as PO Box No.1249 GPO Islamabad; for remittance of drafts and cheques, the outfit opened two accounts at ANZ Grindlays Bank.
Maulana later a close aide, Mohammed Sajid, a Pakistan national, to take care of all money transactions. Several other bank accounts opened in Karachi, Lahore and UAE by JeM supporters are still untraceable.
While arms training, weapons and salaries to the 400-strong jehadi cadre were taken care of by the ISI, major funds collected by JeM were siphoned off by its top leadership.
During interrogation, JeM terrorists arrested in Jammu and Kashmir revealed that Maulana and his aides were frequently travelling to the Gulf and most of them owned property abroad. JeM also had a well-furnished liaison office in London.
The report says that huge amounts from JeM accounts were diverted to accounts owned by the Al-Rashid Trust, a front organisation of the Taliban in Karachi, run by Maulana Mufti Rashid.
Sources said Mufti, who deposited over Rs 10 lakhs in JeM's account in ANZ Grindlays Bank, was the one who appointed Masood Azhar as Amir of Taliban in Jammu and Kashmir. Mufti Rashid was also instrumental in setting up JeM's office near Usmani Masjid in Lahore and other places in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
While tracking one of the landline phone installed at JeM's office (868,1-10/4 Main Road, near Khalid Hospital Islamabad), Intelligence agencies discovered that top separatist leaders based in Srinagar were in touch with Maulana Azhar.
Hundreds of calls were made from the number 051-432400 to several persons in Kashmir.
Sources said JeM cadres were also using satellite phones for communication while their cadres had taken over expensive wireless sets from the Hizbul Mujahideen following bloody clashes between the outfits in PoK early this year.
